"Thinking Landscape - Maurus Schifferli"

This exhibition offers insights into the digital archive and the working methods of landscape architect Maurus Schifferli.
Drawing on Aby Warburg’s Mnemosyne picture atlas, the images are not used here as a static collection of completed projects. Rather, the archive serves as an active tool for navigation and enables a genealogical interpretation of the work. Projects are linked not so much chronologically as through affinities, recurrences and shifts.
The archive thus becomes a tool for landscape architectural design. Using the redesign of Bärenplatz and Waisenhausplatz in Bern as a case study, the exhibition reveals how Thinking Landscapes give rise to concrete design proposals.
